The Ingredients of Vidazorb®

Active Ingredients:

Bifidobacterium: One of the two main probiotic groups found in the human gut, this probiotic – or “good” – bacteria is found mainly in the large intestine. These helpful bacteria colonize the GI tract within days of birth.
Bifidobacterium, BB-12®: a proprietary and scientifically validated strain of Bifidobacterium manufactured by Chr. Hansen, the worlds leading supplier of probiotic strains.
Lactobacillus acidophilus: Found mainly in the small intestine, L. acidophilus is one of the most widespread microflora in the human body. L. acidophilus has been shown to offer numerous benefits including the production of Vitamin K and numerous anti-microbial substances.
L. acidophilus, LA-5®: a proprietary and scientifically validated strain of L. acidophilus manufactured by Chr. Hansen, the worlds leading supplier of probiotics.
Streptococcus thermophilous (S. thermophilous): produces lactic acid in the intestinal tract, limiting the growth of harmful bacteria. It is commonly used as a starter culture in the manufacture of yogurt.
S. thermophilous, TH-4™: a special, highly scientifically validated strain of S. thermophilous made by Chr. Hansen, the worlds leading supplier of probiotics. OPC (oligomeric proanthocyanidins): Antioxidant derived from the skin of the grape seed that delivers a powerful defense against free radicals, safeguarding the health and viability of the body’s cells, tissues, and organ systems. OPCs also inhibit premature aging by preventing over cross-linking of collagen proteins and polypeptides.
MASQUELIER’S® Original OPCs: These are the very best OPC – oligomeric proanthocyanidins – from non-GMO grape seeds. Masquelier’s® OPCs can only be obtained through a highly specialized, proprietary extraction process. Specifically, it is this highly selective process which yields potent, 100% biologically active Masquelier’s® Original OPCs, the nutrient that supports virtually every metabolic system in the body.
Vitamin A: A fat-soluble vitamin obtained from carotene and occurring in green and yellow vegetables and egg yolk. Vitamin A is essential to growth, the protection of tissue, and prevention of blindness.
Vitamin C: A water-soluble vitamin, occurring naturally in citrus fruits, green vegetables, and other foods, that is essential for normal metabolism. It is used in wound-healing and tissue repair, and as an antioxidant helps protect the body against the damaging effects of free radicals.
Vitamin D: Any of the several fat-soluble vitamins occurring in milk and fish-liver oils, essential for the formation of normal bones and teeth. Vitamin D is produced in the skin with sun exposure.
Vitamin K: A fat-soluble vitamin, occurring in leafy green vegetables, tomatoes, and egg yolks, that promotes blood clotting and prevents hemorrhaging.
Zinc: a metallic element that is an essential micronutrient for both plants and animals.

Other Ingredients:

Crospovidone: suspending and dispersing agent and vehicle for pharmaceuticals. Crospovidone is a white to creamy-white, finely divided, free-flowing, water insoluble tablet disintegrant. The material we use is monographed by the United States Pharmacopeia-National Formulary.
Lactitol: A bulk sweetener with a sugar-like taste. Its stability, solubility and reduced calories make it suitable for a variety of low-calorie, low-fat and/or sugar-free foods. Discovered in 1920, it was first used in foods in the 1980’s. Lactitol is a noncariogenic replacement for sucrose (sugar). The material we use is monographed by the United
States Pharmacopeia-National Formulary.
Magnesium Stearate: A salt containing two equivalents of stearate (the anion of stearic acid) and one magnesium cation (Mg2+). Because it is widely regarded as safe, it is often used as a filling agent in the manufacture of medical tablets and capsules. In this regard, the substance is also useful because it has lubricating properties, preventing ingredients from sticking to manufacturing equipment during the compression of chemical powders into solid tablets. It is used to bind sugar in hard candies. It is also a common ingredient in baby formulas. The source in Vidazorb® is a compound of magnesium with a mixture of organic acids from a vegetable source. Mannitol: A polyol (sugar alcohol) used in foods and pharmaceuticals because it is about 50% as sweet as sucrose and has a desirable cooling effect often used to mask bitter tastes. Mannitol is non-cariogenic and has a low caloric content. Mannitol is suitable for ingestion and has been used safely around the world for over 60 years. Mannitol is found in abundance in nature, particularly in exudates from trees, and in marine algae and fresh mushrooms. It is safe and effective for diabetics and those with other sugar sensitivities and is widely used in pharmaceutical formulations and food products. Natural Colors: the natural colors used in Vidazorb® are extracts based on beet juice, turmeric and/or carmine.
Natural Flavors: the natural flavors used in Vidazorb® are spray dried extracts of fruits and vanilla bean.
Silicon Dioxide: A food additive, primarily as a flow agent in powdered foods, or to absorb water. It is indigestible, with zero nutritional value and zero toxicity. When silica is ingested orally, it passes unchanged through the gastrointestinal tract and is widely used in pharmaceutical formulations and food products. The material we use is monographed by the United States Pharmacopeia-National Formulary.
Sorbitol: A bulk sweetener with good taste and reduced calories. It does not promote tooth decay. Sorbitol has been safely used for almost half a century. In addition to providing sweetness, it is an excellent humectant and texturizing agent. Sorbitol is about 60 percent as sweet as sucrose with one-third fewer calories. It has a smooth mouthfeel with a sweet, cool and pleasant taste. It is non-cariogenic and may be useful to people with diabetes. Sorbitol occurs naturally in a wide variety of fruits and berries and is widely used as an excipient in pharmaceutical formulations and food products. The material we use is monographed by the United States Pharmacopeia-National Formulary.
Sucralose: Sucralose is used in extremely small amounts in Vidazorb® to enhance flavor but it was chosen primarily because the bacteria could survive in its environment. Sucralose also makes Vidazorb® safe and effective for diabetics and those with other sugar sensitivities. Sucralose is the only artificial sweetener ranked as “safe” by the consumer advocacy group Center for Science in the Public Interest.
